Trio NYC 12/6, Hobex GSO 12/15

GHET AT 11TH STREET BAR 12/6

Hi, friends. Hope you're ready for winter; I most assuredly am not. I do, however, have a couple of recently added December shows I'd like you to know about. First up, Keith Robinson, Matt Brandau and I will be back at 11th Street Bar on Wednesday, December 6th from 9 to 11 PM.

This will be the last Greg Humphreys Electric Trio show of the year. Would love to see you there! Expect some Rockin' and Rollin' and Funkin' and Soulin' (and perhaps a holiday number or two) at one of the East Village's best bars.

HOBEX AT BLIND TIGER 12/15

On Friday, December 15 in Greensboro, NC, Hobex will play our only show of 2017 for The Blind Tiger's Holiday Celebration. Joining me will be longtime Hobex bassist Andy Ware, drummer Eddie Walker, and keyboardist David McCracken of Donna The Buffalo. Mark Kano and Mike Garrigan of Athenaeum open! Get your advance tickets here. Excited to play a set of Hobex music with Andy, Eddie, and David; nothwithstanding the attire suggested in the event poster, I will not be wearing a Santa suit. ;)

GIFT OF GHET

Speaking of Santa, if you're in search of a great gift this season, please consider our recent Electric Trio release Lucky Guy on Vinyl. We also have a limited number of GHET Lucky Guy T-Shirts available. Orders must be received by Monday, December 19 to be guaranteed fulfillment by Saturday, December 23 – purchase links are below. Hope you have a great holiday... let's hope for good news in 2018.

Greg

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who came out to see Greg Humphreys Electric Trio on our fall tourdates! Had some good turnouts, some wonderful musical guests (Gibb Droll in Raleigh, my sis Ann in Winston-Salem), and a nice preview in Yes! Weekly. I am really enjoying playing our new songs. Gregory Silva did a multi-camera shoot of our Muddy Creek Music Hall show in W-S... hope to share that with you soon. Matt Brandau, Keith Robinson and I are slowing down for the rest of the year, as far as Electric Trio live performances, but we'll be chipping away at trio LP No. 2. More on that soon.

I've added one more fall show – I'll be down in Carrboro NC on Saturday, Nov 4 for Salt and Smoke V, a great annual fest held at Rock Quarry Farm and thrown by the folks at ACME. I'll be doing a special Greg Humphreys and Friends electric set with my pals Robert Sledge and Rob Ladd. You can get advance tickets here.

DILLON FENCE AT DORTON ARENA

Had a wonderful weekend in October playing with Kent Alphin, Chris Goode, and Scott Carle in Dorton Arena for our only DF set of the year. Thanks to all of you who braved the traffic gridlock and long lines to be with Dillon Fence and Preeesh. Apologies to those who were thwarted in their attempt to make it - the Fair was a complete madhouse that night! Thanks to those of you who tuned in to the broadcast. It's available for streaming here via UNC TV, if you missed it. Thanks to Deep South for having us at Homegrown Music Fest... hopefully we’ll have another DF show before too long.

Love,
Greg

Trio in BKLYN! Sept dates in NC, TN, VA! DF in Oct!

Did you enjoy totality? We enjoyed our August trio sojourn, totally. Matt Brandau, Keith Robinson and I are chipping away at a new trio release, and we're getting ready for a busy September.

First up, we play a couple of shows in Brooklyn. On Friday, September 1st, we're back at Bar Chord in Ditmas Park. On Thursday September 7th, we're playing Brooklyn Bowl's Sunset Sounds at Industry City, presented by Bose. We're following our friends in Jamie McLean Band. The show is from 6 - 9 PM, free, and all-ages. Come hang and enjoy this fantastic new concert series with us.

We head south later in the month for shows in Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, Knoxville TN, my hometown Winston-Salem NC, Abingdon VA, and Wilson NC. Our Saturday 9/23 6 PM set at Live and Local Roots Fest in Raleigh will be a great opportunity for those of you who have been interested in bringing the family to a trio show. Also on the bill at Roots Fest will be Ike Stubblefield and Friends, featuring old bud and exeptional guitarslinger Gibb Droll. Expect the jams.

DILLON FENCE AT THE NC STATE FAIR

Just announced: Dillon Fence at the NC State Fair! Chris Goode, Kent Alphin, Scott Carle and I will be rocking Dorton Arena at the State fairgrounds on October 21... admission is included in your ticket to the fair. This show comes on the heels of Ryan Adams recently tweeting out our video for "Collapsis" - thank you, DRA.

Come hear it live at the NC State Fair on October 21... this will be our only DF show of the year.

Love,
Greg

A story... and NY, GA, VA, NC, TN dates

A few days ago, I was taking a sunset walk with my wife and son on the boardwalk of St-Jean-de-Luz, a beautiful beach town on the Atlantic Ocean in the Basque region of southern France.

Someone said, “Excuse me!”

A man approached and asked if I was from Dillon Fence. His name was Serge, a doctor from the east of France on holiday with his wife and kids. He told me that he had just been listening to our “Outside In” album, and that he considered us to be in the pantheon of the golden age of indie rock. He actually knew quite a bit about the band and was very kind. We took a couple of snaps, introduced our families, and said goodbye.

I had just shared with my wife moments earlier that I was missing playing music. I was reminded yet again that some way, somehow, sometimes the music reaches people it was meant to reach.

I’d love for our latest batch of Electric Trio tunes to reach you! Keith Robinson, Matt Brandau, and I have been arranging and recording ‘em over the course of the year. They’re shaping up to be a really interesting group of songs. We’ll be playing 'em at these upcoming shows… see you there.

And thank you, Serge!
Greg

Brooklyn Bowl 6/18, new management

Hey there. Thank y'all for coming out to our shows in May! We had great turnouts and broke in a lot of new tunes. Doing some more arranging and recording with the trio this month... we've also added a show this coming Sunday 6/18 at Brooklyn Bowl. We're splitting the bill with The Trongone Band for their NYC album release show – doors at 6, we hit at 8 PM. Advance Tickets are $7, but dads get free admission for Father's Day.

Some exciting news: we'd like to welcome Jason Finestone on board as our band manager. Relatively new to artist management, he's been involved with the music business for a long time – he's worked on the label/venue side (Knitting Factory Entertainment) and the legal side (entertainment attorney at Shukat Arrow Hafer Weber & Herbsman, LLP.) He's also a musician and songwriter in his spare time. Jason has been very supportive of the trio over the last few years; he's helped us out in many ways already. We're very happy and honored to have him on our team in an official capacity.

Some of my favorite shows are outdoors with all-ages admission, and we have some good ones coming up. We'll be in Sunset Park on September 7 as part of a new concert summer series called Sunset Sounds at Industry City. We're splitting the bill with our friends in the Jamie McLean Band; admission is free, details are here. We'll visit GA and NC for Decatur Blues & Bluegrass Festival on 8/12 and Live and Local Roots Fest in Raleigh NC on 9/23. Announcing more dates soon...
Love,
Greg
